Homemade Gift Ideas Part 2

Yesterday, I posted an idea about filling baskets with homemade items to give as a Christmas gift. We enjoy filling ours with more than just food items. Several weeks ago, I was reading a Birds & Blooms magazine and came across an adorable little bird feeder project and thought this would be the cutest little addition to one of our Christmas baskets!

The first thing you need is a tea cup and saucer. So, back to the thrift store I went in search of tea cups and saucers. This was just one set I was lucky to find for less than a dollar!

Then you need to go to Lowe's for a Dremel tile bit (most expensive part of the project...$12...I'll have to make enough to get my $$$'s worth) so you can drill a hole in the side without a handle and another in the bottom for drainage. Before you drill, you'll want to glue the cup to the saucer with water proof craft glue.

Next you can purchase some jewelry wire and beads from your local craft store. I actually found some of my glass beads at a thrift store and some at a yard sale. Then just bend and twist till your heart's content! When you're finished embellishing your re-purposed cup and saucer, you can give your handmade gift or keep it for yourself to enjoy watching birds visit this attractive little feeder!
